Day 1: Introduction to Sociology

Objective: Define sociology and its importance.

Activities:Warm-up Discussion 

(10 minutes):Ask students to define society in their own words.

Discuss what they think sociology might study.

Lecture/Presentation

 (20 minutes):

Definition of sociology.

Importance and scope of sociology.

Key areas sociology covers.

Class Activity 

(10 minutes):

Group students and have them brainstorm examples of societal issues that sociology might study.

Share and discuss with the class.

Homework:Read the first section of the chapter.

Write a short paragraph on what they learned today.
