the rest of the country moving westward. Gujarat sees the sun
last in the morning in the country. Similarly, the sun sets earliest in
Arunachal Pradesh and then moves westwards till Gujarat. Hence,
time along the Standard Meridian of India (82°30'E) passing
through Mirzapur (in Uttar Pradesh) is taken as the standard
time for the whole country. The latitudinal extent influences the
duration of day and night, as one moves from south to north.

Ans. (A) (b) 120 minutes
Explanation: The longitudinal difference between Gujarat
and Arunachal Pradesh is roughly 30 degrees.
Also 1° Longitudinal difference = 4 minutes difference
30° Longitudinal difference = 4 × 30 minutes time difference
= 120 minutes or 2 hours time difference.

Explanation: There are a few cities through which 82.5 °longitude passes. They are:
